Using Class View with Schoology

Learn how to use the Class View feature with your Kami assignments in Schoology.

Updated this week

Who can use this?

👤 Class View is available for Teachers.

👤 Requires a Kami paid plan.

In order to access the Kami Class View feature, the Kami LTI Integration must be installed for your Schoology course(s). If you are unable to install this, you can use In-Progress Grading with the Kami Extension in Schoology instead.

What is Class View?

View your students' progress and provide feedback on their work before they submit it. Kami's Class View feature allows Schoology teachers to:

  • View the whole class's Kami Assignment files at the same time.

  • Monitor students' progress and performance in real-time.

  • Leave feedback using a range of multimedia tools.

  • Grade multiple students’ work simultaneously.

  • Leave a grade and have it sync automatically to Schoology.

How to use Class View

1. Create or choose your Kami assignment

To get started, you'll need to create a Kami Assignment. Learn how to create a Kami Assignment in Schoology using the Kami LTI Integration or using the Kami Extension.

2. Access Class View in Schoology

Once you've created and opened a Kami Assignment, a window will appear prompting you to Open Grader, Open Class View, or Edit Template.

Select the Open Class View button.

3. Provide feedback in Class View

Each student's work is organized in columns, with pages displayed in rows. At the top of each column are the students' names, assignment status, and a space to enter grades.

For personalized feedback, we recommend using our multimedia Comment tools, which let you provide feedback in text, voice, video, or a screen capture.

Assignment statuses

At the top of each student's submission, the assignment status will be displayed next to their name. Here's what each status means:

Sort and Filter features

Sort and Filter appear respectively at the top left of Class View, as seen in the images below:

The Sort option allows you to change the order in which you see the assignments. You have an option for Submission status (Which is covered in the above section), which will be the automatic selection when you open your Class View assignments.

You also have an alphabetical order option by First Name A to Z.

The Filter option limits what appears in your Class View. All the filters are automatically off, and you can turn them on by ticking the check box to see specific options under the submission status.

4. Leave a grade

Once you've finished reviewing, leave the student's grade in the top-right corner of their assignment, and it will automatically sync to Schoology.

Remember, all your annotations are saved and synced in real time, so students can also see your feedback if they revisit their submitted work in Kami.

Edit Assignment toggle

In the top right corner of the page, you'll see a toggle to switch between Class View and the Edit Assignment feature. This makes it easier to navigate between the two features.
