Installing the Kami external tool integration in Schoology

Get the most out of your Schoology workflow with the Kami external tool integration.

Who is this for?

👤 Teachers or Admin users assigned as a Course Admin in Schoology.

👤 Requires a Kami paid plan.


If you are a Schoology Admin for your school or district, but not a Course Admin, you can still install the Schoology external tool integration using this guide instead.

 

What is the Kami external tool integration for Schoology?

The Kami external tool integration helps you get more out of Schoology. With this installed, you can:

 


Installing the Kami external tool integration

Kami's Canvas integration can be added to either a specific course or to all the courses within your Schoology site if you are an administrator.

1. Navigate to the Schoology App Center by selecting the App icon in the top menu bar, then select App Center.

2. In the App Center, scroll down to find the Kami external tool.

3. Select the Kami app to open its page, then select the Install LTI App button.

4. After selecting the install button, you'll be prompted to review the LTI extension terms. When finished, press the I Agree button, then Continue.

5. Select the courses you wish to install the Kami external tool integration on.

📝 Only courses you are a course admin of will be available to install the Kami LTI integration.

Configuring your Consumer Key and Secret

After installing Kami in your selected courses, ensure the Consumer Key and Secret are set correctly for each course.
To find your Consumer Key and Secret, select the button below:

1. Navigate to the Course Options and select External Tool Providers from the drop-down menu.

2. Once on the External Tools page, find and select Kami.

3. In the window that opens, you will see fields for both Consumer Key and Secret. When you're finished, click Submit to apply any changes made.

That's it! You can repeat these steps for each course you are an admin of and want to install Kami for.
