How to deploy the Kami Chrome Extension to your Domain
Due to a recent change regarding the authorization and approval of 3rd party apps for the Google Workspace for Education, there are essential steps you need to follow to enable students to log into Kami with their school-issued Google accounts. This change will apply to all users under the age of 18 from October 23rd, 2023. After that time, students cannot log into Kami with their Google account unless the Third-Party App Access Controls are configured correctly.
Finding the Apps & Extension settings
To get started, Log in to your Google Admin account. On the left-hand side, click Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions, and lastly, click the Users & Browsers tab to view your settings.
Adding the Kami extension to your domain
After clicking Users & browsers, you will be redirected to a page like the one shown below.
Select the parent domain (for example; your.domain.com).
Hover over the yellow circle button with the + symbol, then select the option directly above it: Add from Chrome Web Store.
✏️ You can also add extensions to individual Organizational Units by clicking the arrow next to your domain:
Now that the Chrome web store is open use the keyword Kami in the search bar to find the Kami Chrome Extension (Kami for Google Chrome™). Click on the Kami for Google Chrome icon, then click the Select button
Finally, make sure that the extension is force installed by clicking the Installation Policy dropdown and selecting Force install.
✏️ We suggest that you block other PDF viewers, such as DocHub or Text-Help Read and Write, or at least ensure that they aren't set as the default PDF viewer.
Having multiple programs active at once may confuse students or cause conflict with the integrations during assignments. To disable other PDF viewers, simply follow the same previous steps to locate them in the Chrome store, and under Installation Policy, select Block.

This is a vital step for the whole domain or OUs to reduce the authentication prompts whenever a user logs in to the Kami App using their Google account and when accessing their files in Google Drive.
Installing the Kami app will enable the Kami Add-on for your teachers and students.
While logged in with your Google Admin account, visit the Kami App page in the Google Workspace Marketplace and click the Admin install button
You will then be shown a permission request. Click Continue.
Finally, you will get a pop-up for an admin wide installation consent screen. Click the FINISH button once you selected your desired installation targets and have ticked the agreement questions.
That's it. Please refer to this article to see more details about adding the Kami - Google Workspace Marketplace App to the domain's allowlist for Google Advanced Protection.
