Who can use this?
👤 The Relevel tool is available for Teachers.
One of several Understand Tools available in Kami, the Relevel tool allows Teachers to quickly and easily adjust a document's text to better match the students' grade level.
What is the Relevel tool?
Relevel is an accessibility tool exclusive to Kami Teachers that uses AI to adjust the complexity of selected text (similar to the Adjust tool) based on the selected grade level.
By changing the grade level up or down, you can instantly regenerate the content at a different reading level or complexity without altering its original meaning.
📝 The levels used in this tool are defined using AI to target the median range of standard reading scores for each grade. This ensures that the generated text matches the typical complexity of a student's reading level.
How to use the Relevel tool
1. On the Kami toolbar, open the Understand tools menu and select Relevel.
2. Highlight the text in your document that you'd like to relevel.
You also have the option to select an area of text instead by toggling on Area Selection (located at the bottom of the Understand tools menu).
📝 If you are unable to select text in your document with the Area Selection toggle turned off, you may need to run the Text Recognition tool. This will embed the text in your document, allowing it to be selected.
3. Select the current level assignment to open the grade level drop-down and select a new level. This will regenerate the response, adjusted to the newly assigned level.
Other Relevel tool options
Several additional features are available in the Relevel tool window.
1. Read Aloud — Use this to have the response read aloud. Learn more about the Read Aloud tool.
2. Create comment from response — Select this option to turn the response into a comment. Learn more about the Comment tool.
3. Copy response to clipboard — Use this button to copy the response text to your device's clipboard.
