Everything you need to know about Kami Class View feature.

Updated over a week ago

Kami's Class View (previously known as Kami Grade by Page) feature allows teachers to:

  • View the whole class' Kami Assignment files at the same time.

  • Monitor students' progress with Kami's Real-time monitoring feature.

  • Leave feedback using any Kami tool, including the popular multi-media Comment tool.

  • Grade multiple students’ work simultaneously.

  • Leave a grade and return the students' files at the same time.

Who can use Kami Class View?

Any teachers who have Teacher as their profile type in their Kami account. You also need the Kami Extension installed in your browser to use the Kami Class View feature.

How to use Kami Class View

1. Create or choose your Kami assignment

To get started, you'll first need to have a Kami assignment. You can follow this article to learn how to create a Kami assignment in Canvas.

💡 If you already have a Kami assignment, follow the next steps below.

2. Access Kami Class View in Canvas

Once your students have opened their work via Kami, you can access the Kami Class View feature in Canvas by going to the Kami Assignment you wish to use this feature. Instead of using Canvas' SpeedGrader, load the assignment by clicking the button Load Assignment name in a new window, similar to what is shown below:

The Kami Assignment will load into the Kami App. A prompt in the Kami app will show the Class View as an option. Click Class View to load all students' files.

Checking student progress in real-time

Kami has a Real-time Monitoring feature that allows you to check your student's progress. This means you can view and give feedback on their work before they turn it in. This feature is included in Kami Assignments and when opening the assignments with Kami Class View.

💡 Real-time Monitoring for Kami Assignments in Canvas will only work once the students have submitted their file for the first time or if the Kami Assignment was made with the Real-time Monitoring setting enabled right away.

3. Provide feedback in Kami Class View

Kami Class View gives you columns displaying each student’s work and each page of a student’s work in rows. At the top of each column, you’ll see the student’s name, their assignment status, and a field where you can enter their grade.

For personalized feedback, we recommend using our multi-media Comment tools so you can provide feedback in text, voice, video, or screen capture video.

Assignment status and what each status means

At the top of each student's submission, the assignment status will be displayed next to their name. Here's what each status means:

Sort and Filter features

With our newest update to this feature, we have added the Sort and Filter option. They will appear respectively at the top left of Kami Class View, as seen in the images below:

The Sort option allows you to change the order in which you see the assignments. You have an option for Submission status (Which is covered in the above section), which will be the automatic selection when you open your Class View assignments.

You also have an Alphabetical order option by First Name A to Z, Last Name A to Z, and to see the most recently submitted assignment select Last Submitted.

The Filter option limits what shows up on your Class View. All the filters are automatically off, and you can turn them on by ticking the check box to see specific options under the submission status.

4. Leave a grade and click Return

Once you've finished grading, leave the student's grade in the top-right corner of their assignment and click Return to confirm.

Remember, all your annotations are saved and synced in real-time, so students can also see your feedback if they choose to jump back on their turned-in work in Kami.
