Who can use Kami's Microsoft Teams integration?
This feature is available to users with a Kami Teacher, School, or District Plan. It also requires you to be a Microsoft Teams user.
Want to try it out? Follow these easy steps.
1. Add the Kami app to your Microsoft Teams
Teachers must have the Kami app installed to be able to do anything Kami related in Microsoft Teams:
Click the “Apps” button.
Click the search bar and type in "Kami".
On the right, you will see the option to select the Kami app.
Follow the prompts to install the Kami app.
2. Using the Kami app to create assignments
To create an assignment you have to do it from a particular team. Select your team, then follow these three steps:
Click the "Assignments" button.
Select the "Create" button at the bottom.
Click the "Assignment" button that appears.
3. Selecting your file to assign
The next step is to use the Kami app to add your desired file to this assignment:
Click the "Apps" button seen below.
Once you select that, it will give you a pop-up to search for the app you want to use. Search for Kami in the search bar at the top then select the Kami app.
Once you select the Kami app you will get presented with the option to add your file.
You can either:
Select a OneDrive File, or
Create a Blank File or page in Kami
Note: The file picker doesn't currently work on the desktop Teams app.
If you selected a file from OneDrive, it will appear below the "Choose File" button. Click "Save" to add it to the assignment.
Here you can now select the Control Features option, which limit the tool options for the students on the assignment.
Once the button is selected make sure to pick which tools you want to turn off or on for this assignment.
We also have a new option to add a file from our Kami Library directly into your assignment without leaving Microsoft Teams.
Once you click the "Save" button it will appear on your assignment as seen below.
Just click the "Assign" button if you have completed preparing the assignment.
4. Grading and feedback
Grading in Microsoft Teams has a few steps involved while we wait for the grader to allow us to have Kami inside of it. Here is how to view the student work and give feedback:
Firstly, select the assignment and select the student who you want to view:
Once you are viewing the student select the "Kami" button to view student work.
That will allow you to give feedback inside of Kami and view the students' work
Once you are finished giving feedback in Kami, you'll be able to give further Feedback in the box seen below:
Remember, all your annotations are saved and synced in real-time, so students can also see your feedback if they choose to jump back on their turned-in work in Kami.
Improvements in progress
Improvements our team's currently working on will include the ability to:
Grade faster with better integration between Kami and Teams.
