Creating Kami Assignments in OnCourse

This article will give you a basic technical rundown on how to create your Kami assignments using OnCourse

Updated over 3 months ago

Opening the Kami Assignment window

Go to the Classroom page on the left, then click the Assignment tab at the top.

There should be a dropdown next to the New Assignment button where you can select a Kami LTI Assignment.

Once you select the option to create a Kami LTI assignment, you may be prompted to log in and authorize Kami.

Setting up your Kami Assignment

After you authorize Kami, you should now see a Kami assignment window. You can set the title, add text instructions, and attach a file using Google Drive or a local file. You can even pick a Kami Library template to assign.

At the bottom left of this pop-up, we've added some features to help students and to allow the teacher more customization when creating a Kami Assignment:

Assessment Mode

This feature is designed to lock students out of their assignments once they are turned in. It also has an automatic turn-in feature once the due date is reached.

Feature Control

This lets you select which of the Kami tools you'd like to be available for your students, particularly for that Kami Assignment. You can learn more about Control Features.

Assigning your Kami Assignment

Once you've set up the Kami Assignment, click the Attach button, and it will show the normal OnCourse assignment creation window. You can add any extra information you want here, and you can finish by clicking Save and Publish Kami (LTI 1.1) Assignment.

After assigning, you should see a new window confirming the Kami Assignment has been created.

And... you're all done! Your students should now have access and can start working on their Kami Assignments using the Kami OnCourse LTI integration.
