Kami has a number of features which can be used in to assist students and help meet the requirements of their individualized education program (IEP).

Collaborative Tools For Working With Students

All of the Comment tools can be used collaboratively with students as they complete their work.

When you create an assign work using Google Classroom, Schoology or Canvas  This allows instructors to follow along with them and provide assistance and intervention when necessary.

The Grading with Kami feature also lets you access the students work from the Grading Viewer in Google Classroom.

These collaborative tools can also be more widely used when assigning work out across your class too.

Voice Typing (or Speech-to-Text input)

If a student has accommodations that make typing or writing out their answers and notes difficult we're able to use the microphone to transcribe text directly in the textbox. This feature can be found in both the Text Comment tool and the boxes inserted using the Text tool (see screenshots for where to find those):

Voice Comments

Voice Comments are also a useful way for students to add notes to their work. If the student has any difficulty using the Voice Typing function to transcribe their voice into text, students can always use Voice Comments to record their voice directly.

Reading Pages Aloud With The Text-to-Speech Tool

Student are able to have pages read aloud* to them using the Text-to-Speech tool. This can be a great way for students to use in reading exercises.

You can also adjust the speech rate so that the text reads at a comfortable pace.

If you have any issues selecting the text on the page please refer to our article on the OCR tool.

*The Text-to-Speech tool is able to read any text that is embedded on the document, however at this stage it is not able to read out Text Comment or what is contained in inserted text-boxes.
