Welcome to the world of Kami! This guide has everything an admin needs to know to get Kami up and running for their school/domain.

Administering Kami for your school/district

As the administrator for your school/district, users rely on you in order to access and use Kami successfully. After purchasing a Kami license, the responsibility is on the admin to manage the students and teachers assigned to that license.

For assistance with these admin tasks, refer to the following steps to ensure your school/district is set up for success with Kami.

1. Deploying the Kami browser extension

Installing the Kami browser extension and deploying it to your school/domain is key to ensuring the most seamless experience with Kami for your users, especially when using a Learning Management System to assign and complete coursework.

There are two options for the Kami extension. Select each below to learn more about the benefits and how to install:

The Kami Private Chrome extension — Installed through the Google Admin Workspace, updates are delivered directly from Kami to your organization without waiting on the Chrome Web Store review process, which can delay updates by three or more days. When we deploy a fix, your classrooms get it sooner.
The Kami extension from the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-Ons — Identical experience to the Private Chrome extension; the only difference is how updates are delivered.

2. Creating a Kami admin account

You will need to have a Kami account designated for managing/installing Kami. For assistance on creating your Kami account, refer to this guide.

📝 If you are using Google OU to manage your license, make sure to create your Kami account under the email that you use to log in as an Admin in Google Workspace. This ensures you have the appropriate rights to add and change a Google OU deployment on your license.

3. App integration & requirements

Every Admin will have different priorities regarding what to install, depending on the needs of their school/district. Review each section below to find what best applies to you:
