Creating Kami assignments in Canvas

Get more out of your Canvas assignments with Kami.

Who is this for?

👤 This guide is for Teachers who use Canvas as their primary LMS.

👤 Some features of Kami may only be available in Canvas to users on a Kami paid plan.


To complete the steps in this article, the Kami external tool integration must be installed.

 

How to create a Kami assignment in Canvas 

1. There are two areas where you can start creating an assignment in Canvas:

From the Canvas Assignments section

Navigate to the Canvas Assignments section on the left, then select the Assignment button at the top right of the page.

From the Canvas Modules section

Navigate to your Module, then select the Add (+) button. Afterward, select Create Assignment, then Add item.

 Open the newly created item, then select the Edit button.

2. Once you've opened a new Canvas assignment, fill in your assignment details, then scroll down to the Submission type section and select the Kami Assignment button.

3. After selecting Kami Assignment, a Kami window will open, where you can attach a file from your Google Drive, OneDrive, the Kami Library, or upload from your computer.

In the Update Settings section, you can enable Assessment Mode and Feature Control, and Real-time Monitoring. When you're finished, select Attach.

4. The final setup step is to set the remaining Canvas assignment settings. Here, you can choose whom to assign the assignment to, configure the number of allowed attempts, and more.

When you're done, click the Save & Publish button.
