What voice options are available?

Kami offers a wide range of voice options for the Read aloud tool, including Natural Voices in a variety of languages, to allow users to personalize their listening experience.

However, several browsers offer a variety of voice options on certain devices that can also be used in Kami. Learn more about the options available for each browser below:
 
 

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge offers the largest variety of voice options for free. We recommend using Read aloud with this browser, available on Mac and Windows operating systems.

Google Chrome

Google Chrome offers fewer languages than Microsoft Edge and has lower-quality audio.
This browser is available on Mac, Windows, and Chrome operating systems.

    Firefox and other browsers

    Firefox and other browsers offer far fewer voices than Edge and Chrome. Therefore, we do not recommend using these browsers for the best Read aloud experience.


    How to add more voice/language options to Read aloud

    To add new voices/languages to Read aloud tool options in Kami, they need to be installed on your operating system, rather than your browser. Please refer to the specific guide for your operating system:

    Unfortunately, with Apple iOS, there is currently no way to add new languages to iPhones or iPads that will consistently appear in Kami.
