What is the Equation tool?
The Equation tool is a Text Box variant specifically designed to add mathematical, scientific, and musical symbols quickly.
How to use the Equation tool
Select the Equation tool from your toolbar, and click anywhere on the page to place the equation text box.
Menu
When you select the Equation tool from the toolbar, you'll see these options:
Font Size (Also available in the Action bar once the equation text box is placed)
Symbols (Math, Science, and Music)
Font Colour
Eyedropper and More Colors
Action bar
Once placed on the page, an Action bar appears when you hover over the annotation.
User Icon — The initials of the user who made the annotation
Move — Move the annotation freely
Font Color
Rotate (90°)
Font Size
Save to Annotation Bank — Save for later use (teachers only)
Delete
Freehand Rotation
Symbols
The Symbol icon is found here (also available inside the Text Box tool).
When using the Text Box tool, head to the action bar at the top of your screen, click the insert function icon, then click the pi symbol.
