Using the Text Box Tool

What is the Text Box tool?

The Text Box tool lets you add text anywhere in your document, which you can move or edit.

How to use the Text Box tool

Select Text Box from the Kami toolbar. Click your page where you'd like to add text, then start typing!

πŸ“ Text Boxes are automatically saved after text has been added. If no text is added, the anchor point will automatically disappear.

Text Box Menu options

Learn about each option available on the Menu shown after selecting the Text Box tool:

1. Font Size β€” Select the font size.

2. Font Colour β€” Choose the font color.

3. Eyedropper and More Colors β€” View more color options for your text.


Text Box Action bar

When hovering over a Text Box, an action bar with more options will appear.

Note: Certain options require a Kami paid plan to use.

1. Annotator's initials β€” Identifies the user who made this text annotation.

2. Move β€” Allows you to select and drag the text box on the document. It can also be moved using the Select tool.

3. Rotate β€” Click to rotate your text box.

4. Predictive Text (πŸ”’) β€” Displays predictive options as you type. Requires a paid Kami plan.

5. Voice Typing (πŸ”’) β€” Allows you to speak aloud and have your voice automatically transcribed into text. Requires a paid Kami plan.

6. Read Aloud (πŸ”’) β€” Click to hear the contents of the text box read aloud. Requires a paid Kami plan.

7. Annotation Bank (πŸ”’) β€” Save the text box to your Annotation Bank (only for teachers). Requires a paid Kami plan.

8. Delete β€” Removes the text box.

9. Free rotation β€” Allows you to freely rotate your text box to any angle.


Text Formatting Bar

When adding or editing a Text box, the Text Formatting bar will appear at the top of the screen.

1. Font settings β€” Pick your preferred Font Type, Size, and Line Spacing

2. Font style β€” Bold, Italics, Underline, or Strikethrough

3. Font color β€” Font Color, font Background Color, and text box Fill Color

4. Subscript and Superscript

5. Numbered list or Bullet point list

6. Text Indents and Alignment

7. Link β€” Add a hyperlink inside the text box

8. Formula β€” Use the Equation tool inside the text box

9. Emoji β€” Select from a range of emojis to place in the text box

10. Reset formatting

11. Voice Typing β€” Click to transcribe speech (recorded with your microphone) into text.
