Guide for Students: How to set up and use Kami with Google Classroom

A quick guide to help students get started with Kami. Learn how to set up and complete your first Kami assignment with Google Classroom.

1. Set up your Kami extension and account

Install the Kami extension:

  • Install the Kami Chrome Extension here.

  • Click Add to Chrome, then Add Extension.

Sign up or log in to Kami:

  • To open Kami, click the extension from your browser, or head straight to

  • Sign up or log in using your school's email account choosing With Google.

  • If signing up, follow the prompts to create a profile and make sure to select Student as your role. This allows your teacher(s) to find your profile and add you to their Kami teacher license.

2. Open your assignment with Kami

  • In Google Classroom, open your Class, and select Classwork at the top of the page.

  • Select your assignment and click View Assignment.

  • Open your assignment under Your Work and click the Open with Kami button to start.

  • Now you're in Kami, you can start working on your assignment using all of Kami's tools!

3. Turn in your Kami assignment

Once you're ready to submit your work to your teacher, click the Turn In button on the top-right corner, and that's it!

  • If you want to make changes, you can hit Unsubmit at any time.

💡 Tip: Kami automatically saves your work as you go! You can also click the Save button on the top right-hand corner.
