Also please read the final notes at the end of this article for some further tips to avoid a commonly reported problem that may affect your ability to open files. 

1.  Click the following button to generate your LTI Key and Secret, which will be needed for the next step (please ensure that you use the same Key and Secret across all of your course, more on this bellow):


2. The Kami LTI integration can be added to either a specific course, or to all the courses within your Canvas site if you are an administrator. Browse to the Settings section of your site or course, and then choose the 'Apps' tab. If you see the External Apps Center, you will need to click the button at the top right - 'View App Configurations'.

3. Click 'Add', choose 'By URL' as the configuration type then setup the settings as follows, using https://api.kamihq.com/lti/config.xml as the configuration URL and the key and secret from step 1. Then click submit to add the integration.

Things to bear in mind

The most common issue people run into is the error shown below: 

Error Message: 

"Kami was unable to load this document. Please try again later or contact Kami support.

There appears to be a configuration error with the Kami LTI integration. This file was loaded with the consumer key 08d2ab10-e364-421a-bd42-88b4d49f608f, however the assignment was created with 65f619de-af1f-4bfa-967f-30df287fae82. You can contact us at support@kamihq.com for help resolving this."

Explanation: This is happens when there is a mismatch between LTI key and secret entered on the course and the LTI key and secret used to open the file. This is most commonly the case when you have manually installed Kami to Canvas whilst there is also version of the Kami LTI that has been installed by your Canvas admin across your school domain.

Solution: To troubleshoot this, please go to your course settings then navigate to the Apps tab. Once there you can remove the copy of Kami that you have manually installed (it will be the one without a lock icon next to it). We recommend that you check this for each of the courses that you have set up. 

This will apply to any new assignment you create using the Kami integration. However, if you have any courses that are currently live then please write to us at support@kamiapp.com with both the LTI key used for your manual install and the LTI key used by your Canvas Admin (you may need to cc your Canvas Admin a swell) and we'll manually migrate your assignments over to the campus or district-wide key.
