Using the Kami add-on in Google Classroom

Unlock even more in Google Classroom with the Kami Google add-on.

Who is this for?

👤 Teachers using Google Classroom as their primary LMS.
👤 Requires either a Google Workspace for Education Plus license or the Teaching and Learning Upgrade.
👤 Requires a Kami paid plan.


 To complete the steps in this article, your admin must first install the Google Kami add-on.

 

What is the Kami Google add-on?

Our newest integration with Google gives you even more access to Kami features in Google Classroom. With this installed, you can:

  • Implement scheduled turn-ins.

  • Set an assignment deadline, giving students a countdown timer.

  • Ensure the academic integrity of student work with Assessment Mode.

  • Expands support to include Materials and Announcements.


Creating Kami assignments

1. Navigate to the desired course in Google Classroom, then select Create > Assignment.

2. In the Assignment window that opens, select the Kami add-on under the Add-ons section.

3. In the Kami window that opens, you can attach a file from your Google Drive, OneDrive, the Kami Library, or upload from your computer.

After uploading your file, you can also enable Assessment Mode and/or Feature ControlWhen you're finished, select Attach.

📝 Feature Control settings cannot be changed after the assignment is created using the Google Classroom add-on.


4. The final setup step is to set the Google Classroom assignment settings. Here, you can choose whom to assign the assignment to, configure grading settings, and more.
 
Once you are happy with these settings, select the Assign button in the top-right corner.

Grading Kami assignments

When a student submits their assignment in Google Classroom, you can select the Review work button to open, review, and grade the assignment.

After adding your feedback and a grade, you can select the Return button to send it back to the student. Additionally, you can Open Class View to view the whole class and apply grades at the same time.
