Using the Shift key to create specific shapes

Holding down the Shift key lets you quickly create perfect shapes. See below for what you can create when holding down Shift with each selected shape:

  • Insert Rectangle + Shift = Draws a square

  • Insert Ellipse + Shift = Draws a circle

  • Triangle + Shift = Draws a right triangle

  • Polygon + Shift = Draws a regular polygon (equal sides and congruent angles)

  • Line + Shift = Draws a vertical or horizontal line

The shapes below in black were drawn with the Shapes tool, and the shapes in purple were drawn with the Shapes tool while holding the Shift key.
