Creating Autograding Kami Assessments with Questions AI

Learn how to prepare and assign your Kami Assessments in your chosen LMS.

Updated over a week ago

Preparing your assessment

To autograde in Kami, you'll need to use the Question tool in the toolbar (shown below).

If you have a learning resource, with or without included questions, you can Convert or Generate questions from the resource using AI.

If you don't want to use AI, you can create an assessment from scratch.

Using Generate Questions (AI required)

Select your Grade level, the type of question (Multiple-Choice or Short Answer), and the number of questions you want to generate.

Once generated, you can select and edit each question.

Using Create from scratch (No AI required)

This feature automatically starts you with a template question you can fill out. At the bottom, you can change the type of question you want. Select the + at the top or bottom of the Questions Panel to add more questions.

Editing your question

Some important notes when editing your questions:

  1. Check the question in case it needs some tweaks.

  2. Make sure you set the correct number of points for each question. The total amount out of 100 will come after autograding is complete.

Placing your questions on the document

You can place the whole question on a blank space or drop a marker that students can click to see the question appear in the Question Panel.

Below are examples of what each option looks like:

✏️ Before assigning your document, delete any unwanted questions in the Question Panel, as everything will show up for the student, even the ones you haven't placed on the document manually.

Using different Learning Management Systems to assign assessments and how to view autograded work.

Google Classroom

Once you've finished your assessment, go to the File menu at the top right of your Kami window and click Create Assignment.

✏️ There's no Assessment Mode for Google Classroom, so your students won't be locked out once they submit their work or the due date passes. But you can track if and when they've re-submitted.

Once students answer the questions, you can view their autograded scores in Class View, shown in light grey. If you edit the grade manually, the font color will turn black.
