How to use all the options the Markup Tool has to offer.

Markup options

Below is a list of all the Markup tool options — some require text on the document to be selected, others can be used on any document as a freehand markup tool.

  1. Text Highlighter - Requires text

  2. Freehand Highlighter - Freehand

  3. Box Highlighter - Freehand

  4. Strikethrough - Requires text

  5. Underline - Requires text

✏️ 6 and 7 are the color picker and palette tools, which allow you to change the color of your markup annotations.

Below, you can see each markup option when used on a document.


Action bar

The new action bar has specific settings for markup attached to text and freehand markup.

Markup attached to text

  1. Annotator's initials

  2. Color palette icon — Click to change the color of your markup annotation

  3. Read Aloud tool — Click to read text selected with the markup tool

  4. Switch to Comment tool to add a comment on the right of the page

  5. Copy any text selected by the Markup tool

  6. Delete annotation

Freehand markup

  1. Annotator's initials

  2. Move the annotation on the document

  3. Shape settings — Edit color and the transparency

  4. Save markup to the annotation bank

  5. Delete annotation
