Who can use this?
👤 The Voice Typing option is available for Students & Teachers.
Voice Typing is one of several accessibility features available in Kami and allows students and teachers to add text annotations by just speaking aloud.
Where is Voice Typing in Kami?
There are two ways to use Voice Typing in Kami:
1. Comment tool - Select the Comment tool from the Kami toolbar, then click on the page to create an anchor point. On the right side of the page, a text box to enter your comment will appear.
Here, you can find the Voice Typing icon to start recording your voice, which is automatically converted to text in the comment.
2. Text Box tool - Select the Text Box tool from the Kami toolbar, then click on the page to add your text box. Once added, clicking or hovering over the text box will make the action bar appear.
Now, you can select the Voice Typing icon to start recording your voice, which is automatically converted to text in the text box.
An alternative option when using the text box tool is to select the microphone icon from the Text Formatting bar at the top of the screen to use Voice Typing.
Changing the language detection for Voice Typing
You can change the language used for Voice Typing in the Kami settings.
📝 Voice Typing in Kami does not automatically translate your speech to the language selected in the settings. This language setting is designed to better recognize your specific language accent and the words you use.
1. Click on your initials in the top right corner of the Kami app to reveal a drop-down menu, where you can find the Settings button.
2. With the Settings window now open, navigate to the App Settings tab. Here, you can find the Voice typing language setting.
3. Click on the current language selection (to the right of Voice typing language) to view all the languages currently available in Kami. Select your desired language to be used with this feature.
4. After updating this setting with your preferred language, click the X button to close the window. This will save the changes and refresh the Kami app.
