Updated over a week ago

The latest version of Kami's Chrome extension allows you to open Microsoft Word Documents and Powerpoint Presentations directly in Kami.

Kami's latest Chrome extension update includes an all-new Kami button inside your Microsoft Word Online and Powerpoint Online. Read more about this exciting update below!

What does the Kami button inside Microsoft Word and Powerpoint do?

The latest extension update includes a Kami button located on your Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint online menu bar.

Clicking the Kami button will instantly open your Word File or Powerpoint Slides into Kami.

(Please note that opening the file into Kami will prompt you to convert the file into a PDF before you start annotating, so you will have a separate file copy to annotate on)

How can I use the Kami button in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint?

The Kami button opens up a lot of possibilities for creation and collaboration! Whether you're looking to turn materials into a Kami assignment through our LMS integrations or want to add multimedia comments to your instructions, using the Kami button gives you the option to elevate any teaching resource.

I don't see a Kami button in my Microsoft toolbar. How do I get it to show?

Everyone who has the Kami extension installed should now be able to access the button. In case this wasn't the case for you, simply check that your Kami extension is up-to-date to the latest version. Here's how:

  1. In your Chrome browser, right-click on the Kami extension button, then select Manage Extension.

  2. In the Extensions view, click Update on the top left corner.

  3. Refresh your Microsoft Word or Microsoft Powerpoint window to see the Kami button.

How to hide the "Open with Kami" button from Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.

To hide the "Open with Kami" button in your Google files, follow these steps:

  1. In Kami, select your Profile.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Scroll down to the Settings section and check the box next to "Hide 'Open with Kami' button in Office 365 Word and Powerpoint".

By changing your settings this way, you will only hide the button for your account and not student accounts on your license. We suggest if you want to hide the button for your class that you take them through this process so they can turn it off individually.

To hide the button for your whole school domain, please request your school's technology admin to email us at support@kamiapp.com.
