How to use all the options the Drawing tool has to offer.

What is the Drawing tool?

The Drawing tool provides complete customization, freehand drawing capabilities, and 100+ color options, whether using a mouse, stylus, or finger. There's also a handy Ruler, Protractor, and Compass.

How to use the Drawing tool

Select the Drawing tool from your toolbar. Click and hold anywhere on the page to start drawing (or draw with your finger or stylus if using a touchscreen).

  1. Stroke thickness

  2. Stoke type

  3. Transparency

  4. Ruler

  5. Protractor

  6. Compass

  7. Color palette

  8. Eyedropper + More Colors

How to use the Ruler

  1. Select the Ruler from the Drawing tool

  2. Click and drag around the page or rotate it using the arrows shown below

  3. Draw near the Ruler for perfectly straight lines

  4. Click the X on the ruler to disable it (it will also disappear if you select a new tool)

How to use the Protractor

  1. Select the Protractor from the Drawing tool

    1. 180-degree protractor (Orange 1 below)

    2. 360-degree protractor (Orange 2 below)

  2. Click and drag the center to move it around the page

  3. Click and drag the outside to rotate it

  4. Draw near the Protractor for perfectly curved lines

  1. Click the + or - to increase or decrease the Protractor's size

  2. Click the circular arrow icon near the center point to reset the Protractors' rotational position

  3. Click the reflection icon in the lower center to reverse the angle measurement direction (the triangle reflected across a vertical axis)

How to use the Compass

Select the Compass from the Drawing tool, and it will appear near the center of your page.

  1. Rotate the Compass without drawing using the circle arrow button

  2. Adjust the radius by moving the adjustable leg that holds the pencil

  3. Start drawing by hovering over the pencil until your cursor matches.

    1. Click (or tap), hold, and move in a circular direction to start drawing

    2. Release your click (or finger/ stylus) to stop drawing

  4. Move the Compass by holding the center of the fixed leg with the four-directional arrow icon

  5. Switch measurement units from inches to centimeters
