Kami’s subtitles feature lets you turn on subtitles for Voice Comments, Video Comments, and uploaded videos. Turning on subtitles can help increase comprehension, so you can support all learning styles and abilities.

This feature is currently in beta, so subtitles will only show for newly created annotations once you’ve turned it on in your Kami settings.

How to turn on subtitles beta

  1. Go to your Kami Profile in the top right-hand corner.

  2. Select Settings, then scroll down to Beta Features.

  3. Click +On for the Display Subtitles feature.

How to use subtitles with Voice Comments

  1. Click Comment on your toolbar, then Voice Comment.

  2. Click anywhere on the page to start recording your Voice Comment.

  3. Click the stop button ⏹ to finish.

  4. Press the play button ▶️ to listen with subtitles displayed.

Tip: You may need to wait a few seconds or refresh your Kami window if they don’t appear straight away.

How to use subtitles with Video Comments

  1. Click Comment on your toolbar, then Video Comment.

  2. Click anywhere on the page to start recording your Video Comment.

  3. Click the Done button to finish.

  4. Press the play ▶️ button to watch with subtitles displayed.

How to use subtitles with uploaded videos

  1. Select Add Media on your toolbar, then select where you want to upload your video from My Computer, Google Drive, or OneDrive.

    Tip: You can also drag and drop a video into Kami from your desktop.

  2. In the Insert Video Annotation, click Insert Video.

  3. Move the video to where you want it in the document and click to drop it in place.

  4. Watch the video back to see the subtitles of the video.

How to turn subtitles off

To turn it off for all tools, go to your Kami Settings and toggle DIsplay Subtitles -Off.

To turn subtitles off for individual annotations, follow these steps:

  1. Hover your mouse over the Voice Comment, Video Comment, or uploaded video.

  2. Click the 3 dots in the bottom right-hand corner.

  3. Next, click Captions to turn the subtitles off for that Video comment, Voice comment, or uploaded video.


Improvements in progress

Soon you’ll be able to edit the subtitles on your Voice/Video comments and uploaded videos.
