How to use Closed Captions in Kami

Learn how to enable captions for Voice Comments, Video Comments, and uploaded videos.

The captions feature in Kami auto-generates captions for Voice Comments, Video Comments, and uploaded videos. Displaying captions can help increase comprehension for all learning styles and abilities.

How to turn on captions for Voice Comments

  1. Click Comment on your toolbar, then Voice Comment.

  2. Click anywhere on the page to start recording your Voice Comment.

  3. Click the stop button to finish.

  4. To display captions, click on the captions button (as shown below), then click the play button.

Tip: You may need to wait a few seconds or refresh your Kami window if captions don’t appear straight away.

How to turn on captions for Video Comments

  1. Click Comment on your toolbar, then Video Comment.

  2. Click anywhere on the page to start recording your Video Comment.

  3. Click the stop button to finish.

  4. To display captions, click on the captions button (as shown below), then click the play button.

How to turn on captions for uploaded videos

  1. In your toolbar, click Add Media, then choose between My Computer, Google Drive, or OneDrive to upload your video.

  2. Click Insert Video, then drop the video on your document.

  3. On your video, click the captions button to play.

Tip: You can also drag and drop a video into Kami from your desktop!

How to turn captions off

  1. Hover your mouse over the Voice Comment, Video Comment, or uploaded video.

  2. Click the white captions icon on your comment to turn off the captions.
