Google Docs
Google Slides
Google Sheets
Why should I use this Open with Kami button?
The Kami button opens up a lot of possibilities for creation and collaboration! Whether you're looking to turn materials into a Kami assignment or want to add multimedia comments to your instructions, using the Kami button allows you to elevate any teaching resource.
I don't see a Kami button in my Google tools. How do I get it to appear?
Everyone with the updated Kami extension installed should now be able to access the button. If this wasn't the case for you, simply check that your Kami extension is up-to-date with the latest version. Here's how:
Right-click the Kami extension button in your Chrome browser, then select Manage Extension.
In the Extensions view, click Update in the top left corner.
Refresh your Google Apps to see the Kami button.
How to hide the "Open with Kami" button from your Google Apps
To hide the "Open with Kami" button in your Google files, follow these steps:
In Kami, select your Profile.
Select Settings.
Scroll down to the Settings section and check the box next to the "Hide 'Open with Kami' button in Google Apps".
By changing your settings this way, you will only hide the button for your account and not student accounts on your license. If you want to hide the button for your class, take them through this process so they can turn it off individually.
To hide the button for your whole school domain, please request your school's technology admin to email us at support@kamiapp.com.
Optional: Convert files when you “Open with Kami”
We just released a beta feature that allows you to save different versions of your Google Apps files in your Google Drive.
Opening your Google Apps files in Kami with the "Convert non-PDF file" feature means the original file will be saved as a new version, separate from the version you'll edit in Kami. In a nutshell, the new copy acts as a backup that you can fall back on if you prefer it over the edited version(s).
How to turn on "Convert non-PDF file":
1. Go to your Kami Profile in the top right-hand corner.
2. Click Settings, then scroll down to the Beta Features.
3. Click + On for the Convert non-PDF file.
