Discover how to edit assignment template files you've already assigned to students.

Updated this week

What is Edit Assignment?

Edit Assignment allows you to edit the file template for all student copies of an assigned Kami assignment, even if your students are already working on it.

Who can use Edit Assignment?

Teachers can use this feature on any Kami assignments that contain student-copy files. This means non-Kami assignments, view-only, or share-one-copy files cannot use this feature.

How to use Edit Assignment

You can find the button in quite a few places inside Google Classroom. Here is a list of where you can see the Edit Assignmentbutton:

  1. Inside the Classwork Tab, when you preview the assignment dropdown.

  2. When you go to the assignment through the Stream section

    1. Under the Instructions tab

    2. In the Student Work tab

  3. Inside the PDF file preview

  4. Inside the Classroom Grader

This will open the template file in the Kami App. Go ahead and make changes to the file, then click the Update all button once you're ready to publish it to your students' files.

Once you select the Update all button, you'll see the confirmation window shown below.

When will students see the new changes?

After clicking the Update all button, changes will be immediately applied to all students' assignment files. Students who open their assignment files will see the changes in real-time after refreshing their tab or the next time they open their assignment file.

Class View toggle

At the top right-hand corner, you'll see a toggle to switch between Class View and the Edit Assignment feature. This makes navigating between the two features easier.
