Kami's Dictionary Tools are designed to help students and users understand challenging vocabulary directly within the webpage. They are seamlessly integrated into Kami Companion, eliminating the need to navigate to another website or application for definitions.

What is the Dictionary tool?
The Dictionary tool in Companion helps students and educators quickly understand unfamiliar words while staying focused on their learning task.
Built directly into the webpage experience, it provides clear definitions, audio support, and flexible language options without requiring users to navigate away from their work.
💡 For the best experience, we recommend using the Dictionary tool alongside Word Select mode.
How to use the Dictionary tool
1. Select the Dictionary tool
Click the Dictionary button in the Kami Companion toolbar.
2. Choose Word Select mode and select a word
With Word Select enabled, highlight a word on the page to open the Dictionary modal.
3. Listen to the word or definitions
Use the play button to hear the word or its definitions read aloud.
4. Change the Dictionary language
Use the language selector in the modal to switch between US English, UK English, or Español Spanish. Audio will match the selected language.
Other Dictionary options
From this modal, you can:
Adjust the playback speed (between 0.1x and 2.0x).
Switch to the Picture Dictionary tool.
Share feedback directly with the Kami team.

Support vocabulary development by pairing words with clear visual representations across the web.
What is the Picture Dictionary tool?
The Picture Dictionary tool in Companion helps students understand unfamiliar words by showing visual representations directly alongside the text they are reading.
By combining images with language support, the Picture Dictionary strengthens comprehension and memory while keeping learners focused on the webpage.
How to use the Picture Dictionary
1. Select the Picture Dictionary tool
Click the Dictionary button in the Kami Companion toolbar.
2. Choose Word Select mode and select a word
View images of a word by selecting it with your mouse cursor.
Other Picture Dictionary options
From this modal, you can:
Adjust the playback speed (between 0.1x and 2.0x).
Switch to the Dictionary tool.
Listen to the selected word read aloud.
Change the language of the read aloud.
