Google has reverted the changes they made to the Chrome v144 update. This resolves the issues with using Kami Companion. Users don't need to do anything else besides updating their Chrome to the latest version.

Update on the issue identified last week. We have found a fix and have sent it to Google for review. We expect the new extension update to be available to all users by the end of this week. The update should roll out automatically, but we will provide manual update steps once it is available.

Identified issues with Kami Companion on Chrome v144
We are aware of a compatibility issue between the latest Chrome update (v144) and the Kami Companion extension. This may cause tools like Translate and Explain to fail. Our team is actively working on a fix.
Workarounds and alternatives:
Stay on Chrome v143: If you haven't updated yet, we recommend waiting until we've released a fix. If your organization manages Chrome updates, we recommend advising them to delay the rollout of Chrome v144 until a fix is available.
If you have updated to Chrome v144, we do not recommend performing manual rollbacks. However, you may ask your IT Admins to use the Google Admin Console to roll back to Chrome v143 if necessary and pin that version (please ensure Chrome Sync is active to protect user browser data). Here is Google's help guide.
(Alternative) Microsoft Edge: Use Edge and install the Kami Extension. This alternative works if your Microsoft Edge has not yet been updated to version 144.

Which websites are supported?
Supported Websites
Kami Companion works with many of the most popular education websites. Most features are available and function as expected. On some sites, a small number of features (such as Immersive Reader) may be limited or unavailable.
Here is what each Support Status means:
Supported - All Companion features are fully functional.
Partially Supported - A single companion feature is not fully compatible with the website.
Limited - Two or more companion features are not fully compatible with the website.

Can I use Kami Companion with other extensions like Read&Write?
Yes, but some features may conflict when multiple extensions are active. If you run into any issues, try temporarily turning off other extensions to see if that resolves the problem. We’re actively working on improving compatibility and reducing extension interference.

Only license administrators have access to this dashboard. If your school or district has a paid Kami license, you will need to ask your administrator to turn on Kami Companion for you. Users with a paid license should have access to the dashboard. Please contact us at support@kamiapp.com if you have any issues with it.
